By Invitation Only

book cover: by invitation only

For all those fiction lovers who enjoy reading books about glamorous and glossy people but are tired of the various versions of Fancy Pants that show up every now and then, for all those readers who like themes based around the fresh farms and people living in cosy cottages but don’t want to dive into another novel about fancy city girl falling for the rustic hot farmer, this is a book that comes as an answer to your wishes.

It gives you the best of both worlds. From the upscale, high society club dinners where too many diamonds are never too many, to the open fields overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables and neighbourhoods producing their own jams and jelly, this one offers it all.

Well, it does begin with rich city girl falling in love with humble farmer’s son. But the story itself has not much to do with their love story and all to do with how the contrasting families of this couple come together to plan their wedding and how a lot of other events change not only their lives but also their attitudes about each other’s lifestyles.

For readers who do end up picking up this book, I’d suggest you skip the contents list all together. This is the kind of book where the story keeps evolving as the characters evolve. Go with the events as if you were reading a book about life. You never know what will happen next and you sure don’t know when will it end.

Over all, the book covers both sides of the coin in very imaginative and descriptive ways. The characters, even the side characters, seem real and by the end you probably will be able to tell the likes and dislikes, manners and ways of each one. The graph of the story goes like a wave. Not in terms of the reader’s interest. In terms of the ups and downs that the characters go through. And just like your and my life, at times the good things happen simultaneously with the not so good. To capture what a character might feel when he or she is going through something bad at one point and something good at another point is easy I suppose. What makes this story unique and seem so real is that the author has done a pretty good job at capturing what characters feel when life serves the sweet and the bitter together on the same platter.
