Ahhhh…. What do I say about this Coleen Hoover novel. Over the years, I have heard either absolutely awesome comments about Colleen Hoover’s work or extremely negative ones. My opinion of her books belong to the first category.
I can say that I have read multiple books by Colleen Hoover and I really loved at least three of them. Ugly Love is my absolute favourite. It features on the very top in my romance list. November 9, I loved as much. And now It Ends With Us.
There is something about all these broken characters that makes me fall in love with them. I feel this is what makes Coleen Hoover stories stand out. It’s not just perfect girl meets perfect boy and there some externally cause conflict, which eventually gets resolved and they live happily ever after. These stories don’t begin when boy meets girl. They give a glimpse into what these characters were before the point at which they fell in love. And many a times, they dive into the emotional attachments that came before this one. The heart break, the mistakes, the repentance, all contribute to the reader feeling a relatability with these characters.
It Ends With Us, does just this. I can’t believe that this book could make me fall in love with two guys in a span of three days. I mean, the emotions are so real that I was feeling them right alongside Lily. I loved when she loved and hated when she hated. This is one of those rare books where you can’t decide until the very end which love story are you rooting for.
This story captures a subject rarely covered in romances and from a perspective rarely covered anywhere.
Rarely do I come across a non thriller novel which keeps me up at night. This is one of them. It grips you into an emotional whirlwind and you won’t be able to keep it down until you find closure.
Over all, an absolute must read. If you are an adult, read this. It doesn’t even matter if you don’t like romances. to be fair, it isn’t just a romance. It is so much more.
