This is the first novel by Kasie West that I’ve read and I have to say, it was a breath of fresh air. After reading romances, one after the other, with the macho swanky hero and the smart and hot girl, this one definitely offers more realistic characters.
The occupations to which the characters belong are themselves so creatively novel that it gets your brain’s imagination cells activated in high voltage. I mean, a teenager who sells porcelain dolls, really?
And the fact that for once the rich were actually proud of being rich and the guy wasn’t acting like he is ashamed of coming from a wealthy background, just makes their richness more natural. I mean, rich people in the real world don’t really know when they are flaunting it and they aren’t really falling head over heels to shed their branded expensive clothes.
So big points for that.
The story itself was quite quick and breezy. I didn’t really realize when I finished reading the first thirty chapters of the book. I guess, all thanks to Caymen’s sarcasm, things never got drab.
And for those who believe that love is best when it evolves out of friendship, big recommendation.
This was definitely a good experience for me and I do look forward to exploring more by the author.
